There is a scene in the movie I’m Gonna Git You Sucka where Chris Rock plays a down on his luck fella who goes into a BBQ restaurant and attempts to order just 1 rib.  He then proceeds to order just a sip of soda.  While this is obviously meant to get a laugh (especially after he tries to pay with a $100 bill), there are people in marketing who take this same approach. 

Like many things in life, marketing takes time. You don’t lose weight with one visit to the gym, or one salad at lunch.  It requires a well thought-out plan based on your specific needs and sticking with that plan over a period of time.  It takes patience. 

Similarly, you don’t just buy one ad, send one email or tweet one time and expect results.  You need to plan out a strategy, purchase enough advertising to create a consistent message with enough frequency, stick with it, and then watch the results grow as time goes on.  Just like you would with a diet.
